Bad Bunny just walked back into the SNL spotlight and he didn’t hold back

Bad Bunny just walked back into the SNL spotlight and he didn’t hold back

🎬 SNL Is Back And It’s a Wild Ride

The 51st season of Saturday Night Live kicked off on October 4, 2025, with an explosive premiere. Bad Bunny hosted again and Doja Cat made her SNL musical guest debut.

This season began amid a major shakeup: the show said goodbye to longtime cast members like Ego Nwodim, Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, and Emil Wakim. In their places stepped new featured players: Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson, Veronika Slowikowska, and Ben Marshall (from Please Don’t Destroy).

🔥 Bad Bunny’s Monologue: A Bold Response

During his monologue, Bad Bunny addressed the backlash over his upcoming Super Bowl halftime show. Some conservative voices criticized his choice to perform in Spanish and questioned the “American-ness” of his presence. He responded with humor and swagger, showing edited clips of pundits praising him and thanking them sarcastically.

It wasn’t just about jokes. He framed his Super Bowl performance as a moment for Latinos, pushing back quietly but firmly at critics.

🎭 What Worked (and What Didn’t)

As is typical, not every sketch stuck the landing — but some stood out.

Highlights:

  • “KPop Demon Hunters” brought energy, with playful pop fantasy riffs and musical flair.

  • Doja Cat performed “Aaahh Men!” and “Gorgeous”, adding strong musical moments.

  • On Weekend Update, Kam Patterson took on tough topics in his debut.

Misses:

  • The Jeopardy! sketch and the sperm donor bit started with promise but didn’t fully deliver.

  • Despite the heavy cast turnover, some new faces struggled to find their footing.

📺 When & Where to Watch

  • Time: SNL airs live at 11:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. PT

  • Where: Catch it on NBC or stream via Peacock

Bottom line: The SNL season 51 premiere was loud, bold, and full of change. Bad Bunny returned as host, Doja Cat brought strong performances, and the cast has been reshaped. Expect more risks, more shifts, and more surprises this season.
